Short Bio for publications

Jason Schoolmeester (jgschoolmeester@gmail.com) was born in the Northern Territory of Australia and has a strong personal belief in and commitment to the Northern Territory.  Jason joined the NT Public Service in 1999 working first as an accountant in NT Treasury.  In 2003 he joined the NT Government’s legal practice in the Department of Justice.  Currently Jason is working as a senior policy officer in the Department of the Chief Minister.

Biographical note

Born and raised in Darwin, Northern Territory of Australia.

I am currently working as the Deputy Coordinator-General in the Office of Major Projects, Infrastructure and Investment in the Department of the Chief Minister, Northern Territory Government.

I have worked for 5 years in senior policy development roles with a strong focus on economic development, major infrastructure and strategic policy development.

I have worked for 7 years as a commercial lawyer with strong major infrastructure and industry project experience (railway, gas pipeline, land, bulk materials handling infrastructure, bio-prospecting, tourism).

I have worked two in-house roles with an Australian government department focused on primary industry, fisheries and resources (mining and renewable energy) and another focused on economic development, business and employment. In these role I have worked closely with individuals and organisations with different cultural priorities and customs.

As practice manager for the Northern Territory Government of Australia’s legal office, I provided leadership and support to the management team with over 100 staff during a period of significant change for the practice.

I am a Certified Practising Accountant with achievements in major government financial reform.
